W4RNC The Downtown Demonstration Station |
RARS has received permission to operate a Field Day station of the lawn of the State Capitol on Salisbury St., downtown!
Check Mike's Field Day web page for current information on the Apex site plans. The downtown operation will have two main HF stations, and possibly a few special operations (VHF-FM, APRS, other "demonstration" modes). The main goal of the downdown station will be to show off ham radio to the public, the media, and government officials. We will be on the air as much as possible, but we will not attempt to be "competitive". If you want to win, head for W4DW! This is the show-off station.
Take a look at the schedule below, figure out when you'd like to help, and send mail to KN4AQ. So you have a choice! Or you can operate at both
sometime during the weekend.

General Volunteer Schedule
This is just a rough schedule to see what kind of staffing we might expect. We can and should have more than one person in each position. Note that these stations are not tied to specific bands or modes. With proper coordination and logging, each station is free to operate on any band and mode available for Field Day. Contact KN4AQ to put your name into a job/time slot.
Specialty Mode Schedule contact KN4AQ if you'd like to set up a specialty mode
