RARS 5 WPM Code Class Offered

RARS Winter CW Upgrade Class - Begins Tuesday, February 28

RARS will not be running our usual Winter Novice/Tech license class, due to the imminent changes in the licensing structure.

However, we have received several requests to run the Morse code class to help current no-code Techs upgrade before April 15.  Our code instructors, Charlie Brown W4VFJ, and Neal Fisher N4HAF, have agreed to run a class.  And our contact at Nortel, Greg Seamster KE4PAX, has arranged for a room.  Therefore:

ANNOUNCING THE RARS WINTER 5 WPM CW UPGRADE CLASS

This class will run on approximately the same schedule as the regular class, on Mondays and Thursdays for six weeks.  But since there's no "lecture" class following, we decided it could start a little later and give people a chance to digest dinner before rushing out to the class.  Here's the schedule:

Dates:  Beginning Monday, February 28, then each Monday and Thursday,
ending Thursday, April 6th (just before the RARSfest on Sunday, April 9).

Time:  7:00 pm until about 8:00 pm.

Location: Nortel Technical Education Center (directions below)

Cost:  $5 for code tapes.

Registration:  Drop a note to Charlie W4VFJ and let him know you want to come.  The class may be cancelled if there's not enough interest.  Charlie's e-mail is: W4VFJ@aol.com, and his phone number is 556-8551.

Directions:  The Nortel Technical Education Center is located near the intersection of Rt. 54 (Chapel Hill Road) and I-40.

Take Rt. 54 east from I-40 about 1/4 mile (or west from the Fairgrounds area about 2 miles) to Corporate Center Drive (there is a traffic light at the intersection).

Go north on Corporate Center Drive about a half mile, and watch carefully on your left for a small sign that says:

       Technical Education Center
       <-- Student Parking

Turn left, and go through the parking lot to a stop sign.  Keep going straight (the building will now be on your right, and more parking on your left).  The entry door will be along the building about half-way back, and you can park anywhere there's space nearby.

We'll have an escort at the door the first night to bring people in.  After your first night, you'll get a visitor badge, and the guard will let people in.

Someone ought to be listening to 146.64 as talk-in before the class.

Good luck - and be sure to let Charlie W4VFJ know if you're interested.
